WinniRadio News...
Wow! We have some more news for you!!!
WinniRadio is proud to bring two new Christian music shows.
The first show is called
"Power Praise Radio" hosted by our friends Ray
Gauthier and Adrian Scott. These two
people have been hosting "Back To The 80s" for the past few years.
"Power Praise Radio" presents the best of Indie Christian Music of today. It
will include the Top Ten Christian Songs for the week as voted by the fans as
well as highlighting many of the independent Christian artists.
The second show, "20 The Countdown Magazine" is
hosted by Jon Rivers who is an accomplished DJ and was once VP of Programming
for the K-Love Network. This show will countdown the Top 20 Christian Music hits
of the week as compiled by the Christian Radio Weekly. Coming soon will be a
special Praise and Worship music program that will be co-hosted by Chris Tomlin.
We are sorry to see another show that is going away. But, Cool
Bobby B's "Doo Wop Stop" will be leaving us soon as we have picked up "Doo
Wop Express Weekly" from Ron Norwood.
We are certainly happy to see that our new image is taking
off along with our new set of DJs that are filling our airwaves. Below are some
of the new DJs that we have added in the past couple of months:
Always an avid
fan of music, Ted Hasiuk first became exposed to the smooth movement while traveling in
the U.S. back in the late 80s. It was love at first listen and after several
years of compiling a smooth jazz library, which has evolved into the largest in
Canada, Ted with his background as an educator, took to the airwaves in an
effort to spread the word!
Café Jazz first crackled onto the air on a Monday night in
September 1997, in Winnipeg Canada broadcast in French! Then for one full year
Canada's Smooth Jazz Connection was heard in both official languages - as such
it’s perhaps the only show in Canada, most certainly the only Smooth Jazz show
in Canada, to have had that distinction!
Ted's passion comes through in the selections he chooses as well as in the
knowledge he brings to the program through thorough research and interviews.
Artists look to Ted for his advice, his genuine interest in their music and his
integrity - he's always considered it a personal privilege to expose and support
new artists. Fans can always expect a personal answer to their e-mail and phone
calls. In fact, over the years many friendships have developed in this very
manner. Now several hundred programs after our premiere edition, the Café Jazz
mission remains, "to win listeners over one at a time, to have fun, and to
showcase the very best in smooth jazz from around the world."
You can listen to
Ted's great show two times on Sunday. His first Cafe Jazz hour is at 6am and his
regular weekly two hour program airs at 10pm.
Eric Potts, known
as Pottsie to many of his listeners, had his own hourly program a few years ago
called the "Retro Lunch" show. This program can still be heard on a few stations
around the world. However, after a year or two hiatus, Eric wanted to come back
on the air with a weekly two hour program. "Flashback To The 80s" is his latest
venture and we are glad to have him on our station. He really knows his 80s
music and his presentation is top notch! You can listen to his show on Sundays
at 12pm (Noon time).
Our last
presenter has finally come back to WinniRadio. Mark Hanna is one of the best DJs
that has ever hit the airwaves. His style and presentation of "Jukebox Gold"
made the show an instant hit when Mark was here about a year and half ago. We
are glad to present Mark in a different light by making his presentation into a
daily three hours morning show. You will be able to hear his normal specialities
including Beatles Twin Spins, 60s Number Ones, Forgotten 45s, Instrumental
Hits, Disco Dance Break, Motown Memory, Psychedelic 60s Flashback, British Invasion
and many other specials segments along with the hits of the Rock 'n' Roll era.
Mark show will be on from 6am until 9am each weekday morning.
Welcome to John Watson!
WinniRadio welcomes "Solid Gold Music Show", a weekly radio
show presented by John Watson. This show features two hours of classic tracks
and great oldies. John comes to us from the United Kingdom where he has a keen
interest in music and radio from a young age, and has a large collection of
music and musical knowledge to add to the show.
Coming Soon
We are continuing to work hard on bringing new programs to WinniRadio and
replacing some programs that are not doing well. We strive to be the best
music station that we can be and we do read each and every comment that comes in. Please
keep those comments coming in as we continue to grow.
